Make. Changes. Visible.

After many years of unrecognized time and effort, Laneshia developed a philosophy to document less visible/invisible work. This talk will illustrate how to make work visible by changing how we measure productivity, and what considerations are needed to best capture and celebrate often unseen labor.  By using her own experiences and observations, Laneshia candidly talks through creating a professional impact statement, a tool that can be used to document labor and can be used as evidence for performance reviews.

Dr. Laneshia Conner is a social scientist from Lexington, Kentucky. She began her career as a community practitioner, and those early experiences led her back to academia to become a researcher. Her work focuses on improving the health of older adults, especially by developing and testing culturally relevant sexual health programs and educational tools. Her work has been supported by funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, and a recent five-year grant from the National Institute on Aging. She also studies innovative teaching approaches that use horror films as a critical pedagogy to help students engage with social justice issues.
